While "market gurus" and financial pen pushers tend to dwell on Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) recent misses, they tend to miss that in the operating systems business, the company is relishing the greatest sales success in its history. Selling faster than any other version of Windows -- or any other operating system in the history of the world, for that matter -- Windows 7 soared to a 40.21 percent (appr.) installation rate in under 2 years, bumping the much beloved Windows XP to second place (38.64 percent).

Yup, I downloaded the pic and used the hacker program. I edited the name in the photo to show Sandog - PC.
I investigated this pretty well and I even made several icons of my hardware.

I tried making my own metadata files, naming folders with the proper GUID and archiving them to cabs, saving them in multiple locations in Windows 7, etc. but could not get the others to work so I gave up.

Here's one advantage 7 has over XP.. driver support out of the box
Try setting up a "vanilla" XP on AHCI or RAID

It is impossible to run XPSP3 setup on any PC that is running in ahci. You either have to change to IDE mode in the BIOS or (what I prefer) make a custom XPSP3 setup CD/DVD, but the problem is easy to remedy except for total nubbies.
