Microsoft Video Gets a Little Too Much Attention

October 2, 2009 by ctal

You almost have to feel bad for Microsoft. The software maker isn’t known for hip marketing tactics, and now that a Windows 7 video has hit it big online, people are laughing at the company, not with it….

”Make fun all you want,” said Kitty Kolding, House Party’s CEO. "Microsoft got an incredible global response.”

I got an invite to hold a party. The incentive is free copies of the software and chances to win PC's.

I can't imagine holding one, though.

The camera work is pretty comical too, as well as the content. Judging by the excellent picture quality they used a good camera, but didn't have any $ left over for a tripod.

Hey, when I viewed the YouTube posting the view count was over 900,000.

That sounds like pretty good free advertising to me.

Windows 7 is getting positive reviews... This is just reminding people that its out there.

I would think MS would be pleased.... very pleased.

Why not have a party? You know you will be using it the next 5 years.

here's a story about a guy who complained to Steve Ballmer directly about not being eligible to host a Launch party and got a free party pack sent to him

Party Pack swag pics...

Ars reader gets free Windows 7 after complaint to Ballmer - Ars Technica

I wouldn't mind getting that package for free...
