Windows 7 will Not Boost Sales of New PC’s - Microsoft
October 10, 2009 by zapionics<alt>
Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft Corp., said at a press conference that the release of the company’s new-generation Windows 7 operating system would hardly increase sales of personal computers significantly…
I guess we could partly blame it on the GFC and also partly on the fact that Win7 is less resource hungry than Vista, so no new hardware required…
or, being cynical, it might be because Win7 doesn’t offer much over Vista anyhow…

Many folks have avoided Vista like the plague. Windows 7 sounds like it's better.
I never used Vista, and plan to build new systems this winter, with W7 and the NEXT Intel CPUs.
Didn't work and their sales (and reputation) suffered....
Win 7 runs nice on older stuff.....my school system is already testing----and liking what they are seeing.....
bottom line....
With all the pent up demand by users that have had XP for almost 8 YEARS!!
And from businesses and schools who wouldn't do Vista because of the hardware changes required and the huge costs involved.....
Well----my good fellows....MS is going to make a FORTUNE on this!!
And they really won't care that much about sales of new PCs----at least for a year or so while they are raking it in.....
So maybe they WILL see a little bit of a boost----at least in the first month or so......
