Two weeks using Opera 7.54: Why should you consider changing?

Interesting Features

Some of the features that the browser offered didn't interest me much however there are a few that I could see as immediately useful. There is of course some of the usual features that you can expect from such an advance browser such as tabbed browsing, a search bar (for various search engines) and a zoom in/out pull down menu are immediately obvious. This is simply the tip of the iceberg. I thought I show you some of the things that I haven't seen in any of the previous browsers that I have used, that I thought were quite useful.

Organising Web Windows

This feature took my eye first was there are various ways of displaying tabs within the main window. There are several different ways available to you that are not dissimilar in which you can organise windows within Microsoft Windows. These include:

Windows Selection

Another thing that wasn't immediately obvious was that you could scroll through a tab while either cascaded or tiled without having to highlight the windows (i.e. click on it), you could just hover your mouse over it. This saved many needless left clicks, which can be quite time consuming and irritating when moving from one tab to another in quick succession.

Windows Toolbar

Another great feature is the Windows Toolbar that can be brought up by pressing the windows button in the left hand sidebar. You can bring up a list of all the tabs that you have open and easily switch between them by clicking, which I seem to prefer than clicking the tabs on the top. You can still switch between tabs using the horizontal toolbar like we are used to in Firefox of course.
