Windows 7 and Network Printer

Hey guys, I know it has been a while. :<

I am having a problem with my windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit and my HP laserjet 2430TN. Specs of PC are in Sig and the Printer is Networked via a 24 Port Linksys gig switch. I have only my PC a Server and my kids 4 PC's on the switch. Oh and my Printer has a static IP with the rest of the PC's DHCP.

Everything was going good on my Windows 7 box until I tried to print to the HP and the job just hung in limbo. I deleted and started again with no luck.
Once the Windows 7 box came back up the printer spitted out what I had printed before. Tried to print again no luck, repeated above step. It got to the point where I removed the printer and tried to add the printer but 7 will not detect that there is a printer at that IP(192.168.1.50). I can ping the Printer from my pc and ever other pc in my workgroup. I can even web to the Printer and the firmware for the Jetdirect is current.

I installed the Printer on an XP machine via IP and it works great. Windows 7 sees it as a shared printer but i dont want to share it from another machine.

Keep in mind that this was all working for a couple of weeks until recently. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 7 is surging. After an insanely popular beta cycle, Microsoft's latest and greatest has exploded out of the gate, grabbing more than 4 percent of the real-world usage base as tracked by InfoWorld's Windows Pulse service -- after only a few weeks of general availability.... There seems to be a direct correlation between Windows 7 adoption and Vista abandonment, with the latter losing a percentage point and the former gaining the same in a little over a week... with XP holding steady at just under 64 percent.

Is XP Pro to Windows7 worth doing yet?

I have been thinking about moving from XP Pro to Windows 7. I have been with XP for over five years now and my system is rock solid and runs well. I have been reading through various posts on this and other forums and mostly people seem to address the level of difficulty involved in making the switch - and usually from Vista to W7. What I want to know is what difference does it make to using a PC in the real world? I don't care if it loads 9.3 seconds faster(or even three minutes faster) because I can use that time to make a coffee or get a beer - what I want to know is does it make pictures and graphics look better on my screen? Does it make communicating with other PC's or devices in my home easier? Is there software that will only run on W7 but not XP? In other words is it actually worth buying or once it is bought and installed is it forgotten about until it goes t*ts up and needs to be re-installed in twelve months time?

Hey all been awhile since i posted i was away for the last 6 months. Anyways i have Vista Ultimate X64 and at the start had alot of driver issues that have been resolved and my system is running smoothly. My mom just bought a laptop with Windows 7 home Premium Pre-Installed and ive been playing around with it and i gotta say its nice . My Question is , is it really worth upgrading my vista ultimate to 7 ultimate because i havent noticed any real difference between the 2.

Just looking for some opinions from you guys on it as far as any performance gain, driver issues you guys have experienced ease of install etc. ive only been able to test out the home premium but not sure what the the ultimate has to offer over that version and the professional version.

3 days ago upgraded from vista home premium to windows 7 home premium,
all went well, all files and programs got transferred -
but then once all was booted up - message of unexpected shut down - blue screen and reboot - this could go on at ad infinitum.
Anybody has any similar experience and solution?

This is way cool. I installed Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit some weeks ago and today I installed Windows XPMode RTM + Virtual PC RTM. Download and install instructions are here:Download Windows XP Mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx)

You can watch some videos on how to install applications in XP Mode here:Windows Virtual PC: Documentation and Videos (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/default.aspx) It is highly recommended to view that particular video.

This is so cool. I am posting this right now in abxzone.com using Internet Explorer 6.0 within XP Mode! This really is very very cool.

XPMode, full screen, looks very much like using Terminal Server.

XP Mode + Virtual PC only works with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise (in 32 bit and 64 bit, though XPMode is a 32 bit OS).

Microsoft celebrates the general availability of Windows 7 with a series of launch events around the globe. A wave of new PC models designed around the new operating system will be unveiled, along with the latest information on how to get Windows 7.

PressPass will have complete coverage of the launch events, including live streaming video, event photos, video highlights and more.

8am PDT/ 11am EDT (or I think 4pm GMT/UCT)

Info from Microsoft Windows 7 Virtual Pressroom (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/presskits/windows7/)

So I have a program that merges and splits PDF files, and I'd like to know if it works on Windows 7 without any issues. Is somebody willing to test it for me on their Windows 7 machine and let me know if everything works? Download the trial version, test all functions, and post a screenshot of the program running on Windows 7 here, and I'll give you a free copy of the software! Then, enter the activation code and let me know if that works as well.

You can download it at pdfmerger. net / downloads/ PDFMergerPro. exe

OK----let me just say that I like Windows 7.....

But I have to tell you that visually----it is NOT as appealing as Vista....at least to me....

A lot of the Icons have gone very basic---almost back to XP look....

Dialog boxes are VERY basic..

A lot of things in the UI have gone back to an almost XP look and feel....

Heck----even the "My Documents" folder is back now----a la XP....

Shoot----next thing you know MS will rename "Programs and Features" back to "Add/Remove Programs!!!"

What a concept.....LOL:winka:
