| Is a 3850 worth it? For my new system build I'm considering going with the Radeon 4850. However I'm on a bit of a budget as it stands, and I was considering getting a 3850 for now, since I can pick that up for less than half of what the 4850 will cost me. But is it worth it? I'm upgrading from a 6600gt, and I'll be playing stuff like Crysis, GTA4 (when released), NFS series etc. Should I stick with my current GPU for now or would the 3850 be a worthwhile upgrade in the meantime? |

| Re: Is a 3850 worth it? My 3850 has handled. Bioshock,COD4,QW;ET All on high settings on my 22 inch Samsung at 1680x1050 It has the 512 memory which helps a little. For the money its been great to me. Haven't tryed Crysis. but movies and HD stuff looks great too. If you can afford the 4850 get it. But the 3850 is a solid backup choice. I saw a used 4850 at overclockers.com for $150.00. So you may think about a used or RMAed card too. Good luck. |

| Re: Is a 3850 worth it? i'm thinking gddr5 is going to be the ticket....and the 4870 wont be the only item with it....i want to see what nvidia does next, since its 200 stuff is being blown out of the water in price right now.... i'd wait a few more weeks, because i think something is going to shake out.....

| Re: Is a 3850 worth it? With the amount of heat these cards generate, consider getting one that exhausts out of the case. This was my main reason for getting the HD 4870 over the HD4850.
