| AMD HD3870 or nVidia 9600GT with nforce 4? Hi i'm looking to updgrade my graphics card. I have been thinking of switching to an AMD HD3870 or an NVidia 9600GT. I read about some problems when the new gen cards first emerged mainly some issues of running the PCI Express 2 cards in a PCI Express 1 slot. I was wondering if anyone knows of any compatability issues in running any of these cards in an Asus A8n32-SLI motherboard (nForce 4)?

| Re: AMD HD3870 or nVidia 9600GT with nforce 4? i have the same board as you do the asus a8n32-sli deluxe. i just bought 2 9600gt cards and running them in sli. i do notice when running resolution 1920x1080 on my television that 2 out of 3 times i have to reset the game or the desktop because the image will come up all jumbled. but its only at that resolution. i'm using a dvi cable from pc to tv. its the same problem even if i have just one card. i think its something with the motherboard and video card combo. a bios revision hasn't been made since march of 2007 and the mobo drivers are even older. i really like the power these cards push out but i'm thinking of upgrading my core system soon (mobo, cpu, ram) to one that is truely pci-e 2.0 compliant. and hopefully that will clear up my glitch as well as increase my performance. other than that the cards and mobo don't seem to have any issues. just with the resolution 1080p. |

| Re: AMD HD3870 or nVidia 9600GT with nforce 4? I came back to an Intel chipset motherboard, mine being the 975XBX2, and came back to ATI, my card is the 3870X2. I've ran in to a little too many problems with ATI's drivers.
