Geforce 7950GT performance sucks big time

I went from a 6800GT AGP to a 7950GT pci-e and performance isnt really any better at all. My games seem to lag more then my order card. I know vista is little weaker on game playing but it shouldnt be this bad. stock the card runs at 575/715 i overclocked it to 640/800 and it didnt seem to help much at all. Im using the latest nvidia drivers for vista.

you may need to completely reinstall the drivers and make sure you wipe them clean.

I know when I upgraded from my 7600 GT to 7900 GS, I did get a decent 3Dmark score (4700) compared to 3500 on my GS.

However I knew it was not configured correctly because when I overclocked my graphics card the 3Dmark 06 scores went DOWN from 4700 to 4400. I reinstalled and now overclocked I get 5500 3Dmark 06 score on my 7900 GS. Nothing exceptional but I am happy with it.

I did a fresh install when i got the card about 3 weeks ago. With my 7950gt overclocked i get little over 5800 in 3dmark06. i looked at reviews on newegg and i see scores between 6000 and 6700 for the the 7950GT series i know most of the users are using intel.

Sounds like it isn't performing as it should, that much is true.

When I went from a 6800GT to an X1950 Pro last christmas, all my games played like a dream. I was able to play Oblivion with everything set to max in 1280x1024, while on the 6800GT I was stuck in 1024x768 with lots of settings set to medium levels. Of course, I wasn't using Vista, but XP. (I'm still on XP until some decent DX10 games hit the streets). Don't remember what 3DMark scores I had, but as they run in lower resolution without AA and don't allow for any variation (same test every time), I feel games are more representable regarding performance.

What drivers have you tried? I know nVidia is bad on Vista drivers these days, not sure how much tho.

ATI is just as bad on Vista drivers, go to Rage3D.COM once and check the forums, before I bailed and setup my Intel SLI rig, I ran VISTA on my previous rig, and Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World, on exit of the game would crash ATI's drivers.

In xp pro i got a higher score it 3dmark06 so most of the problem is vista and the drivers. But over all this card isnt much improvement over a 6800GT.

What drivers are you using? 158.45 are the best so far for Vista.
