Re: GeForce 9800 GTX (D9E-20) to launch in Late March

OK, so I've read that currently the 8800 GTS G92 at best can produce acceptable framerates in Crysis at 1680 with medium graphics settings. My rig (see below) with a x800 played at very low rates, probably 12 to 20 fps with mostly medium settings, high water and a couple other high settings. It seems that the 8800 GTS and Wolfdale would be a good upgrade now instead of waiting for the 9800. Does that sound right? Would it be useless to wait for the 9800 series seeing as though reports are fairly negligible in the performance boost? I assume anything would be a huge step up for me.

Re: GeForce 9800 GTX (D9E-20) to launch in Late March

Why are they even releasing it as the 9xxx series? If they're still using the G92, it would make sense that they should release it as the step up from the 88xx with an 8900.

Re: GeForce 9800 GTX (D9E-20) to launch in Late March

If I had gone the "step up" route lke I almost did, I would have been boned big time. Something told me it was a bad idea. I know (usually) when the PC industry is dicking around and happened to be right this time. Sorry Intel/Nvidia. I really am enjoying the money I spent on my 50" plasma instead of giving it to you guys! I think I will play some HL2 on it today. My existing hardware plays everything great except for Crysis and I am not upgrading for one lousy game.
