Geforce FX 5900 Ultra is running hot

It seems that the ram becomes very hot, because this afternoon my case temp was 40c and i could'nt run 3dmark2003 entirely @ 1280x1024 4xFSAA... but it was working @ 1024x768 no FSAA
Now i speed up my tower fans, the temp is about 35c and i can run 3dmark2003...

hummm, maybe i have to put a extra fan on my gfx card to cool the heat spreader ?

Does someone have this problem ?

I've got a PCI slot exhaust fan underneath my 5900 Ultra. I really don't need it; it is lukewarm at best after looping 3DMark.

Just buy one of these:

I got mine in today and will install it after work! It's $23.00 from 1CoolPC.com, it is 120mm, pushes 131cfm, and is like 45db loud, it's not loud at all really, I listened to it @ work. I'm gonna install it right above my 5900U and report back the results. As it stands now my GPU runs @ 44C idle, and like 58C load.

Overclock your card any?

P.S. Your signature is too damn big! Put a [size] before it to make it look better.

I'm hoping to hit like 525/975 or even better would be 550/1000 but I seriously doubt it. However I can run @ 525 core right now but after a bit it starts getting hot then slows down so it's possible. I'll let ya know here shortly as I'm about to go home and install it.

dangit it won't work right, my screwholes are too stripped for me to screw it in and there's really not enough space between the fan and my side panel. So I'm gonna hafta cut a circular hole on my plexiglass and mount the fan directly on it.

It ended up being a disaster. I dremelled out the hole for it on the plexiglass, then started drilling the holes, trying to be careful but a huge triangular chunk of plexi broke off the panel! argH! I did go ahead and mount the fan though and brought my idle GPU temp down to 38 allowing me to run @ 515 core but mem still wont' go higher then 930 without artifacting. kinda sux.

Don't worry Dark, even @500/950 i don't see any difference except in benchmark... it's about 11% better not enought to visually see the difference...
You only see the difference from 20%
So don't worry... be happy...

I guess I'm more ****** about my panel being busted. My dad says he can fix it for like 50 cents or something but I don't see how as it's riveted, I'd think it'd be hard to replace it and make it look right. But then again it would cost me $30 for a replacement panel after shipping. Maybe I'll just tape up some cardboard over it to cover it, nobody sees it anyway.

I'm having my dad fix it for me, he bought new Plexiglass and is redoing it today. Hopefully he'll drop it by tonight
