Gfx not rebooting :x

When i reboot my computer, it's as if my gfx card doesnt reboot. It's obvious that the computer reboots, but nothing shows up on the moniter. At first I thought my geforce 7600 was crapping out, so I replaced it with a brand new 8800 gts and the same thing is happening. If i click "shut down" instead of restart, and I let the computer sit for about 15 seconds, and then manually start it up again, it boots up normally. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like your motherboard is not initializing the pcie port during warm boots. You could try defaulting the BIOS or even updating your BIOS. If neither work then your problem is most likely a hardware issue.

For the record gives us the make and model of your motherboard and PSU this well help others in assisting you further.

What do you mean default the bios? And how do i update the bios? Noob questions i know, sorry :x

I have downloaded the latest gfx drivers. I dont think the problem is the gfx card or the drivers because, on a cold boot, the mobo beeps and it starts up properly, but on a warm restart, the mobo doesnt beep, and there are no logs during the timeframe of the warm restart, the logs dont start again until i manually shut down the computer, and do a cold start. I thought the computer was actually rebooting because the fan on the cpu starts, and the fans and powersupply are lit, but i think now that either the mobo or something else isnt restarting on a warm restart. I tried reloading the mobo drivers from the cd, i think I need to find new or updated mobo drivers, ima try that, let me know if you guys think it could be anything else. On a side note, my computer got hit with some trojan's and downloaders so i went out and bought AVG virus protecter and it keeps finding the trojans and dl'ers but they keep popping up, any ideas? I think ima have to reformat :x

Can you tell us what make or type of motherboard,processor and ram you have?What kind of power supply do have?Plus if you have viruses on your pc,then that may be what your problems are right there.People on the forum need to know what kind of hardware you have before they can help.Good Luck.

The mobo is a GA-M56S-S3 brand - GIGABYTE supporting AMD socket AM2, my processor is Amd athlon 64x2, i have a 500watt power supply and 2 gigs of ram. I've had this problem since I built this computer about 8 months ago, I just never fixed it, because it wasnt a big deal. I never really shut down the computer, and if i need to restart, i just shut it down, then do a cold boot. I've even upgraded from a 430 power supply just incase it was a power problem, but it didnt fix it. Another sympton is if i shut down the computer and let it sit for sometimes 1mn to 15 mns, it automatically boots back up lol, it's really weird. It's not the virus trouble i had, that was recent, this problem, like i said, has been occuring since i built it.

I would download the latest BIOS update for that model. Just follow their instruction on how to do this. Gigabyte boards support BIOS updating right in windows so there is no need to have to boot from DOS disk any more.

I need to find NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management and NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller to download, i think thats the problem.
