new versions of CS:S and HL2 don't have the options, at least yet.

I think I'll wait for the online reviews rather than ATI or Nvidia propaganda. The slides don't provide enough info. Funny thing is that at Tech Report, they're running a benchmark of CS:source between the 6600GT and X700Pro/XT and shows the 6600GT faster except at 16 x 12 w/4X AA and 8X AF.

Nice pics.

I what I like is that x800xt pe's are about as scarce as hen's teeth (found one in stock for 800 bucks) but you can buy a 6800 ultra pretty easy.

What I want to see is how a 6800 / 6800 gt stacks up agains a 9800 pro card. Anybody seen any benches on that one yet?

all i have is my 6800GT, and i listed the rates i am getting, so if someone with a 9800Pro played the game with the same settings, that might work, wouldn't be the most scientific, but it would be close.

What are your setting FB? Also how do you check your framerate in the game? I'm to tired to think straight right now and after I take a nap I'll check and see how my 9800Pro does for ya...

test with highest quality settings in the driver control panel, but AA/AF set to app. controlled
and in game use 1280x1024, high settings, 4xAA, 8xAF

Ok assuming I have it set right this is what I got..
I got anywhere from 49FPS to as high as 65 or so. How did this was start the Ravenholm level and do the Benchstart and went through it for a few minutes so I got some action, then benchend on the console and it computes your FPS. They only setting I am unsure about is the Highest quality setting with my driver control panel. For whatever reason my video settings do not name what setting they are on.. Here is a pic.

I will make a note. I was running this game on 1200x900 with 4xaa and nothing set on the 8xaf. after running it with FB's settings it seems to run smoother IMO. I dunno if I am starting to get loopy from the lack of rest or what, but this game just plays solid I think. My only complaint so far is that I think Freeman moves slower then he should. Just doesn't feel fast enough for me. Its like he is walking slow instead of alwayrs running, and then sprinting... Do you know what I mean? If some else knows what command that actually shows your FPS on the screen while you play that would be nice to know.. Also I saw something where Deathmatch 0, I may swap that to a 1 and see what happends.

Hey FB did you do the Net_graph 1 of the benchstart and benchend commands? Its to bad HL2 doesn't have a bench mark run like Doom 3 did, or atleast I haven't seen one yet. Those are nice figures makes me wann run out and get a new video card, but will have to wait for a bit.. Though if I do I imagine I'll end up getting a X800 XT
