| Hey all, I'm kinda stuck on this one... I have a HIS 3870 Iceq3 Turbo 850 card. (full specs in sig) Runs great when its running... but every now and then, I will lose video signal, and the screen will power down. The computer did not crash, the game(s) are still running. I hit the sleep key and put the computer in standby, then wake it up... I do this twice and I'm back in the game playing, as if nothing was wrong... Some games crash from being put into sleep mode/coming out of sleep mode, but not until. I don't think its an overheating issue, as I've never seen the card over 55c after I modded and reseated the HSF, and flashed with the new BIOS. I have some good 3x120mm fans, with excellent air flow through the case. Anyone have any solutions to this? TIA ![]()

| Re: My 3870 issue... OS? Vista or XP? 32 or 64 bit? Driver version? Can you reproduce this problem when not overclocking? I have seen this problem on Nvidia cards several times though not on a ATI card. I have little recent experience with ATI cards. In the cases I have seen it would seem to be a compatibility problem between the video card or driver and the monitor being used. The reason I believe this is using a different monitor or video card eliminates the problem. Over time I have found that new video drivers have fixed this problem in several cases. I would also make sure you have the latest windows updates.

| Re: My 3870 issue... Dang, I always miss one key point LOL! I've tried with XP 32/64 and Vista 64. Same in all OS's. Its a factory O/C... so, no, I haven't tried underclocking it.

| Re: My 3870 issue... If you are using Catalyst 8.7 don't. Catalyst 8.7 has this problem with my monitor, and I don't know how many other monitors. You also don't say what Catalyst version you are using whether it's 8.6, 8.7, or Catalyst 8.8.

| Re: My 3870 issue... Doh! I've tried 8.7 and 8.8. I've also tried the omegas, and got the same issue... - I never used driver cleaner between installs... maybe I should? So, you've delt/seen this problem? (So I'm not the only one...) What drivers are you using now?

| My new build has only one app on it at the moment ... BioShock. I'm running the VisionTek Radeon HD3870X2 OverClocked Edition with the Cat 8.8 drivers and have seen the card as high as 63c. During a six to eight hour session of BioShock, the screen will go blank once or twice and the VPU will recover the graphics once or twice. I wait about 60 seconds or so for the recovery and the game continues. ![]() __________________ Asus X48 Rampage Formula / Intel Q9450 / 2 x 2GB OCZ Reaper HPC PC2 8500 / VisionTek Radeon HD3870X2 OverClocked Edition / Western Digital Raptor X Hard Drive / Two Western Digital Caviar RE2 WD5001ABYS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives / Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 / Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 Speaker System / Lian Li 343B cube case / PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Crossfire Edition |
