| Re: Now, it's the 4870's turn... ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 - R700 Preview: here http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3354&p=1 I sold my son's X1950 Pro and am looking for a replacement. I was looking at the HD 4850 and was hoping some would be released with better coolers. Although the HD 4870 has the cooler I would want, there is something about paying 100$ more ... Getting a HD 4870 may not be future proof however. I have seen this time and again when the next gen midrange card smokes today's higher end model.

I vaguely recollect problems with nforce motherboards and 3800 and 4800 cards. You don't have another MB to try the ATI card on until they fix the drivers? | |

| Re: Now, it's the 4870's turn... No I haven't...but I had to make a fast decission, otherwise it would give problems to return the card for another one, so I already did Bought this one: Asus ENGTX260 TOP/HTDP/896M ...285 euro's !!Getting it on Monday...hope to have better luck this time Hans.

| Re: Now, it's the 4870's turn... The Diamond HD 4870 is at 268$ so I just might order it. Anyone have some positive feedback using a HD 4870 ?

| Re: Now, it's the 4870's turn... Well ... I decided to take the plunge and order it. I ordered the following; Diamond HD 4870 Asus P5Q Pro I will be recycling the following parts like my E4300 which overclocks to at least 2.4 Ghz at 266 fsb. Maybe the P5Q Pro will allow me to overclock higher. 2 x 2GB Corsair DD2 667 memory OCZ GameStream 600 watt PSU It's going the take about a week to arrive so maybe ATI will release a driver update by then. I decided to go with the HD 4870 since there was only about a 80$ difference with the HD 4850 and I would rather have the cooler which vents hot air out the rear of the case.
