Received my Viewsonic P75F+B today

Well it finally came in.

As I was removing my Envision en780e I couldn't help but notice that the monitor casing is exactly the same

Like ... it came from the same mold. The face which is screwed on is different however. I guess Envision aka AOC built them to Viewsonic's specs. Anyhow xp listed it as a plug and play monitor and the refresh rates were not is high as they should be.
I looked at the cd that came with it and I could only find drivers for 95/98 and NT. I went to the Viewsonic site and found they had signed drivers dated 12/11/2002 for winxp. I used these and it looks like winxp sees it as P75f+ and the refresh rates are what they should be.

How's the general quality? Have you ever had a viewsonic before?

Is it the perfect flat screen? Shadow mask or apeture grille?

This is my 3rd viewsonic monitor and i like this monitor. The black one looks better than the usual white.

Yes, it's a perfect flat screen and it is aperture grille.

Windows XP doesn't like high refresh rates in games, but there are programs you can download that fixes that. Default is 60hz.

Comparing the monitor to LCDs, LCDs are better because they are sharper. But, for the price, this is a great monitor.

I actually got one about 2 years ago, I saw lines on the screen so I brought it back and got a Compaq instead. If I only knew then what I know today

Now that I know the lines are normal, I can go on with my life.

simply uncheck the "Hide video modes this monitor can't support" under the Monitor tab, after that you can select the refresh you want, I have it at 90Hz and it's perfect!

I did that at the time but even with this unchecked, I was not able to get the high refresh rates that this monitor could do.

Once I installed the Viewsonic driver the refresh rates were much higher ... worth the effort
