Careful with their technical support. I once had an email argument with them that Windows NT 4.0 does not have a device manager. He said that it did, I said that it didn't. He went on to say that he had Windows NT on his Compaq computer at home, and although he hadn't switched it on within a few months, he was 99% sure that there was a device manager, he then continued on to explain in detail how to get into device manager through the system icon in the control panel. I said that we had Windows NT on about 200 of our PC's and 16 of our servers, and although I hadn't switched on my Compaq computer since that morning, I was 99% sure that it hadn't, and that could he please forward me through a link to a web site of something clearly showing where device manager was in NT. He sent me through a link on somePropriaetry HP Device manager used by servers for managing storage devices.

He then said that this was where the confusion was coming from and that we were both right.

Thumbs up

they have 877 - tollfree # and the guy today was nice, also explained that both retail & oem cards (9800 & 9600) are identical, but the retail one has a 3 yr. warranty (as opposed to 1 yr.)

OK, I also checked the Tyan review & the mem/hsink contact was not good... the card looks interesting tho.

I send emails to Sapphire's tech support for the key/serial number of the redline 1.7 software as my oem version didn't come with it. So far, 2 emails, no reply. This is terrible service or lack of! I will have to use other o/cing softwares. Will think twice buying their products again.

Heck, it's only the video card and a girly overclock at that. All I'm doing is running the memory at its rated spec of 350Mhz.

Heh...no data corruption.

I'd still never O/C the motherboard/CPU. Done been burned too badly with that.

Im putting the system below together this weekend. Im a little confused your 9800 pro should run at 380mhz w/o any overclock because thats the default speed.

Sorry, I should have been more clear: Core Clock default=380Mhz. Memory Speed default=340Mhz. The Samsung chips used on the Sapphire 9800 Pro are rated for 350mhz , which is what I am running them at now.

Oye, vato. I'm about to head out to hit CompUSA and Fry's looking for a Vantec Ion PSU and a couple of Western Digital SATA SE HD's...I'll see what they have in stock for a 9600 Pro.

Just checked - unfortunately they only have an ATI retail 9600pro in stock - mem. is only 300MHz

I didn't find what I wanted locally, so I ordered from Googlegear.
That Vantec Ion PSU and a Western Digital 250GB SATA SE HD should do nicely, I would think.
I'd have ordered from NewEgg (I went so far as to open an account) but they didn't have the PSU in stock that I wanted.
No worries. It's good to have accounts where I might need them.

It's my understanding that those things overclock like a mofo. Might want to look into a Sapphire 9600 Pro and use their Redline utility to get it up to speed.
