VGA card failed bios update, I think it's dead I purchased a MSI video card the other day, and decided to try the MSI live update to upgrade the VGA bios. All went well until the actual flash attempt, a DOS screen opened and a script ran. Then the DOS screen showed an error, the script ended with a comment that I must update the BIOS manually. I tried to run the program that was down load from MSI, but got the same error over and over. So I gave up. After a reboot, the video card failed and I now have no VGA ... I've tried the card in a couple of machines, but no go. I suspect the MSI flash utility erased the BIOS, but failed when it tried to load the new one. Does anyone know how I can get the bios back onto this MSI vga card ?

You could create a boot disk that automatically reflashes your videocard. Somewhere over at Rage 3d is the procedure explained how to do it. I can find it mine or I would post the autoexec file.

Thanks for the suggestion swannema, but this card is Nvidia I have had some success ..... There is 1 suitcase strap on the board with 3 positions I moved it from 1-2 --> 2-3 and the card seems to work ok. If I put the strap back to 1-2 there is no video. Does anyone know what this strap is ? backup bios ? I did not get a CD with video card, can someone check their's to see if there is a utility for flashing an MSI video bios plz Or does anyone know of an Nvidia bios utility for DOS

Works again .... Buried in the MSI forum was a procedure to reflash the card. However this maybe an issue with my P4P800-D not being compatible with MSI's "Live update 3" I moved the video card to my old K7T and the bios flashed successfully. Dam lucky I guess
