Re: Happy Birthday USA!

I did not put any advertisements in my post. This is a shady new development in this board.

I must have missed something. Anyway, it was a good Independence Day for us this year.

Re: Happy Birthday USA!

There are Google Ads in my post between my post and my signature. I have nothing against Google. I love Google, but I did not put "Ads by Google" in my post and the fact that they are there is somewhat off putting.

Nothing major in the grand scheme of what this site has to offer, but c'mon: There are actually rules against people putting spam in their posts, and there it is, placed by ABX, right in my post. Kind of ironic, IMO.

I had to use IE to see what you were talking about. Using Firefox and Adblock i've never noticed that before. It's definetly off-putting.

Re: Happy Birthday USA!

I am also using Firefox and did not see anything. I have noticed what you mentioned at other forums, jrefronc. Thank you for the explanation.

I'm using IE7 and I don't see any ad in your posts...

that would suck if ads were placed in registered members posts...those ads usually only show up when viewing the forum as a 'Guest'

Re: Happy Birthday USA!

I am using Firefox 3.0. Does the Adblock ad-on stop this? I did not see ads using IE7 or 8beta... I got a bad feeling what with all of IE's ongoing security problems and installed Firefox and overall I'm happy with it. Adblock Plus is not "signed" and I get a warning when I go to install... Anyone recommend any other quality ad blockers for Firefox? Thanks!

I'm not as bothered if that's what is happening. This site definitely deserves some ad revenue so if that is what is going on I'm down with it.

Come to think of it, I usually browse the forums as a guest and don't bother to log in unless I have something to say. Now that I am logged in the ad seems to be gone. That would explain it. I never thought about ads being targeted at passers by but that makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for all the useful replies guys! Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor to someone at some point.
