| Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? I would like to know if the Vista Upgrade DVD also includes the Vista 64-bit version or not; since I still haven't decided to jump on Vista yet. I also did not use 64-bit Windows before, so I want to try the 64-bit to get a feeling and test some of my apps which I use frequently. If anyone has the Vista Upgrade DVD, could you please check and let me know. I don't want to spend extra money on the retail version. TIA.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? Since you cannot upgrade from the 32-bit Windows to 64-bit Windows, even if it did come on the disc you could not use it.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? That's correct, but, I believe you can do a clean install using the dvd. Just make sure you can find all the right 64 drivers before you do it. john

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? If the 64-bit version of Vista is on a seperate DVD in the same pack of Vista Upgrade, then can I install the 64-bit Vista freshly? Which means, vista may ask me for a valid copy of Win XP, which I own one; just as when I install Win XP with a copy of Win 2K. The clear information will help me to decide if I can install the 64-bit Vista in the Vista Upgrade package. Thanks for your info.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? Are you using an upgrade dvd or Windows Anytime Uprade dvd ? In any event, you can't upgrade a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system. You have to do a clean install.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? I don&t have any DVD with me yet. I only want to know if there is a 64-bit version inside the Vista Ultimate Upgrade package. By the way, where is the Windows Upgrade Anytime DVD can be found? Is it included in any Vista upgrade package - Home, Business, Ultimate, etc. ?

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? I bought the full Vista Ultimate retail box awhile back. It had a separate dvd for 32bit and 64bit editions of Vista Ultimate. The upgrade version might also have 2 separate DVDs.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? If you buy an OEM Windows Vista, you have to specify right away, whether or not you want 32bit or 64bit Vista. With OEM, you don't get both discs.

| Re: Does Vista Upgrade DVD include 64-bit version? I have used the Anytime Upgrade disk many times to install Vista because my original disk has become unusable. I have the 64-bit disk. I purchased it online for 5 or 6 bucks. It can tell the version of your Vista by your valid product key. One time I used the disk to install a 64 bit version of an OEM Vista Basic without any problems. On that computer, I have since reinstalled the original 32-bit back again from the original OEM disk with out any activation problems etc. The only reason I used the upgrade 64-bit disk was that I could not find the original 32-bit Basic disk at that time. And, I could not boot regardless of restore points and the start-up utility on the DVD. I had the fun job of digging files out of Windows.old. I think with the OEM, you can go back and forth from 32-bit to 64-bit as long as you are not making any hardware changes. I am happy that I have the Retail on my computer because MS greatly relaxed the system hardware change/ activation policy on the retail version since the first offering policy. I have made more than several hardware changes and plan more in the moths to come. I have had to call them for an activation code a number of times. I know the Anytime Upgrade DVD has all the versions. But, they come in either a 32-bit or a 64-bit. Thus far, I used it to install Vista Home Prem retail, Vista Ultimate Retail and Vista Basic OEM. Every time it installed the correct version from the product key. Like VSEKH said. The Retail Ultimate is the only version that comes with both the 64-bit and the 32-bit disk. Other retail versions you can order the 64-bit disk from MS for around 10 bucks. But, I think it is easer to just get a Anytime Upgrade disk. I have done both. MS shipping was slow. They don't even send it out first class. They use that special Media Rate.
