I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit and when i noticed SP1 was available through windows update i tried to download & install but i keep getting an error. Wondering if I should try the stand alone? Am i missing something?

Mite be a driver stopping you from installing sp1. Uninstall your creative drivers and remove the card.

Guess i will wait it out till APRIL 18. That's when Microsoft will address the few issues with some stubborn drivers.

Re: SP1 can't install it?

Ok so I got a hold of Microsoft tech and emailed back & forth!!!

Many different suggestions and ideas and so I popped in the Vista disc and procedded to upgrade my copy of Vista to fix any corrupt files that the Tech suggested i do. So many many hours later, a few blue screens too..... I have a new problem.... I choose to keep all settings and files/programs and it did except the Display driver (which was no big deal). I reinstalled it(169.44).
Now i am running my display @ 1920x1200@ 60Hrz + 32bit with 120DPiand Vista Aero/Cleartype.

Everything looks CRISP except Windows Mail and Nvidia Controll Panel. It looks like it was not scaled properly and the text is a bit fuzzy

Any suggestions?

I still don't know if I can install SP1. I will try a bit later from the stand alone download as it doesn;t appear in my Update anymore.
The tech said I might have to install the updates again......

Thumbs up Re: SP1 can't install it?

FIXED all my laptop vista problems .. QUICKLY !

Saved all important files and REINSTALLED a fresh Vista copy.. installed ALL MS updates, incl. the SP1 FIRST !

Everything works faster and flawlessly.. just applied a few basic tweaks, disabled uac, and NO more messing, tweaking or deleting the REGISTRY..period !

I can bet ('cept the known hardware issues) that 90% of all Vista problems appeared after the registry files got corrupted one way or the other..

Re: SP1 can't install it?

I put a clean copy of vista on my HP laptop. I was amazing how much snappier it is with Vista minus HP bloatware. I know for my laptop there is a bios update that will allow SP1 to install.
