Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Well, I decided to bite the bullet and installed Vista 64 bit and SP1 and it sure works a lot better than my years ago short-lived experience with XP 64..

It nailed all my needed drivers (except the inf) Windows updates installed the Nvidia driver for my 7900GS KO ( Including the Nvidia Control Panel) and I no longer have the "remember folders settings" issue that popped up with the Home Premium install..

I still can't get it to remember my internet shortcut icons on the desktop, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time and research to figure that one out.

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Apparently there is a way by doing a registry hack, I'll have a look around and see if I can find it.
I wonder if you got a bad download? The one I got worked like a charm.

Make a shortcut of your browser and drag it to the desktop. Then get your browser to open the internet link using the shortcut
eg for Firefox to open Google, right click the new shortcut, select shortcut tab and enter in target path
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" www.google.com
Change the shortcut icon to whatever you want.
Vista won't forget the icon anymore as it's no longer an internet shortcut but an ordinary shortcut.

PS. Don't forget to leave a space between "...firefox.exe" and "www.google.com"

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

Hmmm, Not having any luck with it.... I keep getting invalid path/folder errors when I click apply...I tried it in both the "target" dialog and the "start in" one... Am I missing something on the syntax?

Re: Vista Service Pack 1

I downloaded Vista32 SP1 from a link on the WinVistaForum. I did not have any issues with the installation. My system is running fine.

Yeah, you need to leave a space between the path to the browser and your internet address ie
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox"SPACEHEREhttp://www.superpages.ca
