Is there a way to get past the Realtec driver problem and get the Vista SP1?
Well, you could always download the standalone package, or buy a cheap soundcard.

Disable your onboard sound card in the bios install sp1 and enable the sound card again.

ended up getting Windows Vista Business 64-bit OEM from ZipZoomfly...comes with SP1...probably not integrated into the Vista DVD and is a separate disc but I guess that's all that is available now

Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64-bit English Single-Pack DVD OEM at ZipZoomfly

Re: Vista SP1 available

Can the vista 64 bit sp1 be stlipstreamed into vista 64 bit oem, and if so, where are the directions? Oh, can the slipstreaming of a 64 bit version be accomplished on a 32 bit machine?

Re: Vista SP1 available

Yes and yes, but your cpu needs to be 64bit capable and you have to do a clean install. You can't upgrade from a 32 bit OS.

Re: Vista SP1 available

Thanks for that info, but you know, I just finished trying to do just that. Here is what happened. I got to the phase of integrating the sp1 into the vista instal image already on my hdd, which is a 32 bit windows xp os, and the vlite program stopped, giving me the message that I cannot slipstream a 64bit system on my 32bit os. Please keep in mind that I am not installing anything on my 32bit windows xp system. I'm just using it to slipstream a vista oem os with vista sp1 so I can install it on a new machine I am putting together.
I am highly disappointed that I cannot slipstream the vista sp1 onto my new vista oem so I'll have to do the basic system install and then do the upgrade. I sure wish I could avoid that long road.
Thank for your help.

Re: Vista SP1 available

I doubt you can slipstream 64bit into 32bit. You need a 64 bit DVD. If you want to just do it with your 32bit oem maybe you can make an oem backup dvd. But you'll only be able to slipstream the 32bit SP1 into it.
