| Can anyone give me an answer to this: I have the Asus P4C800-E Deluxe and am running two WD Raptors in Raid 0. When one installs WinXP...you have to hit F8 to install the drivers before it will recognize the drives. With Vista...do you have to do the same procedure? I went to Intel Homepage and there are no Vista Raid drivers for the 82801ER Raid Controller...will the Windows XP drivers work in RAID? Any thoughts...I won't even try Vista if I can't keep my raid setup... Thanks Bob |

| Actually, I ran the upgrade advisor. The 82801ER drivers must be supplied by Intel...and I never found them on the Intel page...so I have two problems...Can't run RAID and my Epson scanner has no drivers. Other than that...Everything in my machine should be good to go...so either break up the raid or just wait...gonna wait Bob |

| SpeedDMN Not a bad idea. I actually have a spare hard drive for my Toshiba laptop...2.4 GHZ Pentium 4 M...512 MB of SDRAM...think I'll try it on that machine on the spare drive...only part without drivers is the Toshiba TV Tuner built in for Win XP Media Center Edition...I'll keep you up to date...make take me a day or two to get up and running properly... | I installed Vista on a spare 80GB IDE drive I have. But I disconnected my 2 SATA drives, one with XP, before installing so it doesn't screw anything up. Then I can use the F8 option to select which drive is to be booted from. One thing, I don't like how Vista handles flash drives. It doesn't show up on the Safely Remove Hardware list anymore. I click Eject, but it is still listed in Windows Explorer. Using the hardware in my sig, it just feels a bit slow. According to Windows Performance Guide, my system scores a 3.

| Well I tried to download vista 64bit again last night but this morning it was the same thing as last time "unknown error please download to another location" etc. again right at 99%. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the 2 files. There is one nero image file and the body of the download is in another. zero k on the cue file. I still can't get through to the download manager option. I'm trying the 32bit now but I have a feeling I will get the same error. Has this happened to anyone else?

I was able to get the 32bit version on the first try. I burned it to a DVD and went into the beginning of the Vista setup to make sure it worked, then cancelled, because I want to use the 64 bit version. I figured I would try some other time.

| Well glad I'm not the only one. I couldn't get anything to download in explorer no matter what I tried. For some reason it let me download in firefox (not the manager option) only just to get to the 99% error. As I am writing this the 32bit completed with no errors. I still think it has something to do with melding those 2 files as now I just show one file with the succesful download. MS obviously should have better anticipated the volume of downloaders for this release. I guess I will play with the 32 bit first and get the 64 when the download manager option is freed up. Thanks for the info

| Its very weird, there has to be something up with the 64bit version, because I just download the 32bit version with no problem again. I also tried burning the 64bit 99% iso to a DVD and it gave and error @ about 98% of the burn. I wasn't expecting it to complete but thought I'd try and see what happens. I also placed an order for the DVD beta 2 from MS the other day, since they will also send a copy of the release candidate(s) versions when they are released. I wasn't expecting to get paid for the holiday last week but since I did, I gave $6 of it to MS to beta test for them. Something seems wrong with that picture. ![]()

| I have a question. I want to install the vista 32bit version on a seperate partition and dual boot with xp. I have a raid 0 drive setup so I need to install the raid drivers during setup but my floppy drive doesn't seem to be working so is it ok to burn the drivers to a cd/dvd and load them from there ? |
