| Windows Vista Public Beta the Largest Software Download in History Vista is now the largest downloaded software in history. Many users have struggled to try to download the Beta (4.4GB 64-bit version), only to find it aborting exactly upon completion. Microsoft has now clearly indicated on the Vista Beta site that many users will simply not be able to access the download, and should order a DVD version. If they attempt to increase the amount of bandwidth they're providing, they will literally slow down the entire Internet! http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=33561

| Yeah. I ordered the DVD. Not that I have much choice. We South African ADSL users can only download 3GB in a month... :P

| Can someone say Bittorrent? This is a normal file size for the BT protocol. Why doesnt MS make something like that for this purpose! Where i am, the ADSL has no cap (for now). They tried it a while back, and i guess they lost a lot of users since it was stupid low (5GB up and down, each) and since i use on average 60GB/month, and lately a lot more. With linux, i bet i do much, much more (think installing a huge os multiple times over the net) Either way, the cable company gives a 60GB cap, which is still too low. If i get any more capping i will probably try to get an SDSL line, at least then i am getting a good connection, even it if its capped.

| I have a 10 GB cap on ADSL, but I only ever use about 3.5 GB/month. High speed net access costs a lot more in Australia.

| I don't think I even have a cap...I know I've downloaded a lot of large files in any given month...that's a good question to ask my ISP though, think I'll call them up and ask them...

| Why bother downloading? Just order the DVD and it will be at your doorstep in a few days. Done and done!
