Why Windows Vista Won't Suck

here is an excellent article explaining in detail why Vista will not suck and could potentially be the most significant upgrade to the Windows operating system since the move from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95...before reading this article I was not looking forward to Vista and had no intention of upgrading...but now...I can't wait till it is released...

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...1931913,00.asp

I still don't understand DirectX 10...if it is for Vista only then how will that affect future gaming titles?...will game developers be making 2 versions of every game?---one for DX9 and one for DX10...since DX10 will not be backwards compatible it seems like those with DX10 and Vista will get the optimised better version of games

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

I mentioned the security aspect of Vista on another thread but skeptism is high on that even though I know a little more about the development of this portion of Vista I'm not sure how much I can disclose. I can say that MS went to the correct source for help in developing the kernel with security in mind.

Linux. But the drivers... which is why you have to stick to what works, 3Com NICs, Creative Labs sound cards, etc. Mobo chips pose the greatest obstacle, 7.1 sound on a chip may not work on Linux, as might not some wireless NICs, etc. And just as we are chained to one OS (XP), we'll have to be chained to only being able to install from binaries which have been put together by the Distro coders.

Well i dont plan to upgrade if Vista contains all the "DRM Crap" tht ppl are talking about and am sure other ppl wont do it too.
Though,It has some good features like application based sound, voice recognition etc etc i dunno why the hell it took them so long,i mean they could have released it in 2004-05 as well.
