Occasional missing threads from new posts

hmmm... i poll the new posts regularly and I am positive that sometimes threads dont appear.

Take this one for example. I am sure I never saw this come up.

What are the rules regarding how the "new posts" process runs?

Re: Occasional missing threads from new posts

I did see that one under New Posts, as it's generally the only way I browse the site anymore.

Re: Occasional missing threads from new posts

I also saw it under "New Posts," as soon as I first came here this morning, which was about 8 hours after the person posted.

Re: Occasional missing threads from new posts

I was not around to see this instance of the problem though I have in the past seen similar things happen. Could it be some weird time zone bug?
BTW I still use the invisible get daily button most of the time.

Re: Occasional missing threads from new posts

I did see it under new posts ultimately, but the thing is i had already polled new posts earlier and didnt see it (which was after it was posted acording to the date stamp on the first post in the thread). It was like i missed the original post altogether and only saw the second post come up.

If no one else has experienced this then I've just made a mistake somehow, but keep an eye out.

We may have a gremlin at work. We have so many knowledgeable people on this site it wouldn't surprise me if someone has the ability to delete posts. I'll check this out.

Re: Occasional missing threads from new posts

The abilities of the members to even edit their own posts has changed dramatically since the ownership change. For a period of time, some members not happy with the new associations of their accounts were on a bit of a edit spree to clear out their content. Edits were stopped at that point by the new owners. I believe deleting posts would not be possible - even mods cannot hard delete posts, so I would think this to be a glitch in the forum software before anything else.

Actually, I can do that, Ozzie, although my normal practice is to send spam to the junk zone.

Maico -- I believe what Zap was saying is that he did not see the op's post INITIALLY, but only saw it later after I had posted a response to it. It was not a case of a post being deleted, but rather a case of the post appearing (to him at least) after some delay.
