Problems That Have Arisen In The Last Day Or Two

In the last day or two, I have noted the following new problems with the site:

-- Log-in seems to be required each day; cookies are apparently not being stored on a long-term basis.

-- Member profile information seems to have disappeared, except for local date and time, and post count.

-- A blank screen is returned when requesting a member profile by clicking on the member's screen-name in the listing of private messages that have previously been received.

-- "Today's Birthdays" seems to have disappeared.

Thank you in advance for your attention to these matters.

Regards,
-- Al

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know about these problems. I'll see if I can find out if any changes have been made, that might have caused this. And see if we can rectify the matter.

Regards

Re: Problems That Have Arisen In The Last Day Or Two

Way to go Al...I have noticed a couple of those things too.

I noticed I had to keep logging in when coming back here. You have to hunt a little to find the log in too.

I don't know about the member profile, but I do see there has been a change. If you look at your profile you'll see a new screen now. You can adjust who sees your profile, etc., so I'm guessing this may have something to do with that.

I just looked at one of my private messages and clicked on the members name that sent it to me - sure enough - a blank screen.

Don't know about the today's birthdays thingey (wifey speak...LOL)...where was that?

Re: Problems That Have Arisen In The Last Day Or Two

Hi there

I just realised, the forum was upgraded to the latest version over the past day or so. so its likely the out of date skin is causing this.

I'll be upgrading the skin shortly, which will hopefully fix it. In the meantime, Ive enabled the default skin for the forum, which should fix most of these issues. You can select that in the meantime to use, until the new skin is in place

(we'll also look into the issues that the default skin isnt fixing).

hope this helps

Ozzie -- The birthdays thing was at the bottom on the "Forums" page, and it has now returned!

I just looked at the "profile privacy" settings in my control panel (hadn't noticed them before), but they are all set to "everyone," so that is apparently not the problem.

Susie -- thanks for your efforts!

Regards,
-- Al

Ah yes...there it is...I knew that...

I see someone is moving around all the buttons...

Thanks for replying Susie - the techy types around here notice when things get moved.

Maybe there's some good in this? I'm not seeing all the spammers links from a certain country anymore.
On the other hand, they are still there, but without logging into the upper levels I can't see them.

Thanks, Susie. However, I still can't see anything substantive (other than local date and time, and post count) in anyone's profile, including my own. My profile privacy settings are all set to "Everyone."

-- Al

Looks like the problems with profile visibility have been fixed, and enhanced as well. Thanks!

You're welcome, but it wasn't me who fixed it

I just initially reported the problem, and the fact that it now appears to be fixed. I believe Susie (cg admin) gets the credit!
