Exclamation The smilies are all screwed up today

The smilies are all screwed up.

I'm reading a lot of old threads and the smilies are not there!

Also I notice that the smilies in the "write a message" window are not the "standard" set of ABX Computer Forum smilies. (evolved through the years as the most requested smilies)

Since I am a frequent user of smilies and I would like all my previous threads to look right as well as seeing the threads written by others the way they were meant to be seen:

When can this be fixed?

Nine years of posts are screwed up because of this unless the ABX set of smilies are fixed.

Smilies can be always added. If someone wants these new smilies then add them but don't delete any. These new smilies are not computer related in any way. One smilie whose absence sticks out like an enormous sore thumb is the "hammer banging on the computer" smilie. The fishing smilie and the popcorn smilie I've seen used tons of times.

And why weren't comments on what happened here solicited first from the people who use the smilies.

Because we don't matter. We are just trogs. Kept by our trog masters and they do as they see fit without a care or deference.

Because they can. Because they wanted to. They didn't want to maintain different smilies on this board versus the other boards they maintain. SO they consolidated by eliminating ours. Without regard to uniqueness.

By the way what can we do but talk about it. We really no longer control the destiny of this board.

Re: The smilies are all screwed up today

Well maybe this was done by mistake, they have changed the front page back to the way most everyone likes it, hopefully they will change it back!

I am finding that I can not fully post!!!

The smilies that I need are not there!!!

I'm looking for the thumbs smilies, the grin smilies, the buddy smilies, the computer smilies ....

This is a computer forum first, a crowd gather forum second. (if it were the other way around, crowdgather would not need a computer forum) A computer forum should be treated like a computer forum, not a cake baking forum. I'm glad rjs said it so that thought is known and as I said earlier we should have been told in advance about something that has such a significant impact on posting but, I, at the moment, will look at this as just something that happened as the forum programmers experiment with the software.

I hope it gets fixed soon. I cannot properly post in the ABX style and flavor with the limited smilies available ATM. After nine years of evolution, the ABX smilie list covered 99% of what a good computer forum needs.

Re: The smilies are all screwed up today

I miss the GOOD smiles.

Maybe we should all take a week off, so the powers that be get the message. Without us, this site is worthless.

Let's organize a smile party!
