The Air Cooling Thread

hi

I have an XFX 6800 XT and it runs at 50-55 c on idle...is that normal or HOT?!

anyways i was thinking about purchasing ARCTIC COOLING AVC-NV5R3 NV Silencer Rev.3.

do you think its a good idea...because i want to overclock it and i am afraid that i'm gonna smoke that thing...

However, i am going to SLI it, so i was thinking if the cooler will be too big to fit the other card in. my MOBO is ASUS A8N SLI.

Those temps are in the ball park I'm running 6800gt's in sli with Zalman 700cu coolers and right now the top card is 53C and bottom card is 49C, here's a picture of my cards in sli....

Those temps are the same as what my two Radeon X1800's idle at, and are in the ballpark as fvbounty said.

. . . well, by looking at fvbounty's picture; you just might run into prob's with the SATA plug's on the mthrbrd, IF your going to use them..... .......you might want to get confirmation with fvbounty or any other's out there with this mthrbrd & setup of "SLi", along the lines of using SATA drv's as well........g/l.....

Hi Mr Charles how have you been, long time no hear. I'm using sata 1 and 2 for my raptor and seagate drives no problem.....

. . . . gotta remember, tho; you are running those Fan's/cooling GPU from Zalman...[smaller in diameter & lengthwise on card]........but those one's from Artic Cooling have their fan on the end of the card; {... kinda LARGE & longer on the card,at that, too} ....... right's about the area of those SATA plug's on the mthrbrd............
....but maybe i am overseeing something that all might be good to go for him......
....(that's why i stated: " g/l " at the end of that post for him; maybe he'll be lucky enough to have no prob's..... ...)

Yea if he does use the Arctic's it might not work, I had to reverse my Zalman's 180 degrees to make it clear the chip set cooler....when are we going to build our Conroe systems?

Hi Mates,

has anyone of you already tried out Arcit Cooling-Products? I'm just on cooling my x2 4000+ with a Freezer 64 Pro. I'm really enthusiastic about the silence with which the 15 €-cheap product is cooling my hardware.

After the IceQ3 on my HIS X1800 GTO got way too loud I replaced him also by an AC-Product - the Accelero X2.

Coming from Watercooling-Lands I'm really exalted how fast that machine ran. After 15 Minutes everything was in the case - at this time witz WC one's still among to think about how one should place the tubes and where to place the heat exchanger.

If the fans will stay that silent as they are atm I won't be disappointed of my try of air-cooling.

I am building a new rig using a Tt Armor case with the 250cm fam. I plan on air cooling.
I am not really noise sensitive.
My question is should I use a fan comtroller box or just connect the fans to the Mobo. I would like to use a combo fan controller and memory card reader.
Any suggestions?
