| Is the fan plugged into the correct fan header on the motherboard?

| Even if the fan is working. It might not be plugged into the correct socket.Make sure it says (CPU fan) and not Power Fan or System fan.

| Hello Belgareon! Just make sure that the fan is connectd to the right socket (labeled "CPU FAN"). If this is not possible (socket too far) or for other unusual reasons (fan connector has onyl two wires so it run @ full speed, etc. etc.) the motherboard can't detect the fan or it's rpm correctly, you can disable the monitoring somewhere within your BIOS settigs (see under "hardware monitoring") and get rid of the "CPU fan error!"-message. Best solution is to make sure the fan is connected to the correct socket with all pins available (so the fan is detected, it's rpm's can be read and maybe controlled by the bios) Greetings Dru

I am 99,99% sure it is connected to the right socket, but Ill check again just to be sure. Keep in miind that this is a 120mm fan, and the connector only has 3 pins, as a normal CPU fan would have 4, dunno if that has something to do with it! Thanks for the help so far guys! /Alexander

| Three pins is perfectly normal. Two pins are for the voltage (+ and gnd) one is for the rpm sensor. The fourth pin your connector on the motherboard may have is needed to make it possible for the bios or some software to control the rpm. You won't find this on older motherboards. Greetings Dru

| In the bios check the fan speed,if it is below bios threshold you will get this warning. I get it on my p4c800e,solution is to disable cpu fan monitoring in the bios. Sorry Drufuss you already said that ( must read more carefully ) Last edited by MikeP : 04-03-2007 at 10:02 AM. |

| Many mobo's have a minimum fan rpm speed based upon the stock fan spec. If your fan is below that because it is more efficient, even if working properly, it will set off the warning. The only thing you can do is get a hacked bios, or as Drufuss and MikeP suggested, your best bet is to disable the feature in the bios. |
