Koolance Exos-Al: does it need cleaning?

For those that have had this for quite a while, just wondering if it's necessary to take off the cover and perhaps use an can of compressed air to blow and clean out the dust from the radiator since there's no filter on the sides of the unit, which I'm sure will accumulate a lot of dust over the long run. Also, by unscrewing the cover, will that void my warranty?

I'm no koolance owner/user but I think it would make alot of sense to keep the rad free of dust to allow for optimum air flow.

I removed my cover and replaced the tubing when I bought mine...but that was covered in my install post. There is no seal or way Koolance would know you opened it for cleaning, unless you beat up the screws....

On that note, mine appears to still be rather clean, so I wouldn't bother cleaning it for quite awhile...if at all. There is nothing really to draw air into the case, so dust should be a minimum.

I took mine apart just recently, it's a fairly simple operation. My temps had gone up a few degrees so I figured it needed a clean....and I was right, the rad had clogged with dust. A simple good blow over, re-assemble and it was back to 'normal' temps

. . . . . since i read this thread a bit ago; and i have this one disconnected and sitting on the side from being used all summer till this fall; just decided to digg-in and check this out. . . . . . . . . . . . . .man. i am glad i did....... [as showing by the pic's].......along of showing: to take closer look of your own when you take apart to NOT mix-up and put the wrong "length" of the screw's for where they are NOT suppose to be at..... just noted some pic's here for other's to keep in mind of. . . . .

Thumbs up

. . . . . . .for here, the last pic show's=[ the one screw in the very back-middle is the "short" of the 5 small one's and the one "big-side-screw" need's to be shorter by way of a spacer of some kind; OR someday you MAY spring a leak from well......you can see from the pic's.... I just used a clip off a nylon-wire-hanger clip and used some double-sticky on the side to keep it with the case..... ]...............Hopefully other's will take note of this and be cautious of their own.............. ........ .........

Whoa, mr. Charles, that's a lot of dust/pet hair in your radiator there. It's time to vacuum that all up. Did you notice a rise in temps?

. . . . sorry Ice; thought i'd already replied back to ya on this, :o guess i forgot to ......but, . . . . .Yeah there was a bit higher for temp's when this was running. if i recall, i think it went up like 3 to 5 degree's and i thought it was cuz of the ambient being a bit warmer, but, Now i know better when the temp's of the Koolance itself tend to rise a bit too much;... what to look into..... [ normally i was running like 30 to 33 at idle, but then started to stay in the 34 to 37 area for idle........still gaming/under load, never got beyond the 45 to 48 area.....but, before > gaming was like around the 42 to 44.... ]

Koolance Exos Owners - Remember To Dust!!

I just wanted to post real quick and remind all those Exos owners out there to dust their radiators. I re-configured my desk yesterday and in the prcess i cleaned up my case and exos unit.

There was a ton of dust inside the exos and when I powered up my system again the Exos front panel indicator was 4 degrees celsius cooler than before I dusted!

So take some compressed air and spray the iside of that sucker!
