Laptop CPU temp

Sorry for lenght of post

I tried running OCCT on my Asus G1s and would instantly get the cpu is too hot error. The max was set at 70 C in the program so I raised it to 90 C . Still got the error! I started the program and watched the temp go from 64 C (idle) to 97 C in a matter of about 2 seconds. Since I've already opened it up and upgraded HD to a Hitachi 7200 rpm drive and put Vista Ultimate 64 bit on it and upgraded the memory to 4 gig of ddr2 800. I decided to see how hard it would be to remove the heat pipe so I could clean it and the cpu ,so I could try some Artic Silver on it. Well the removal could not have been easier , (except for removing and reinstalling the little sticker on one of the heatpipe screws that says "VOID WARRANTY IF BROKEN OR REMOVED")

Anyway,to try and make a long story short. My temps went from the above stated, to 39 C idle and only 68 to 71 C running OCCT cpu test for an hour. "HOLY C__P"

Needless to say, but there is also a CPU upgrade coming in the near future!LOL

Re: Laptop CPU temp

I'm happy as it is ,but, the tube I used, I bought when I did my P4C800E-DLX build . The tube says 3 on it. Maybe if I get some AS5 I can lose another 15 C or so . jk
