loosing ram ?????

hey guys just wondering..........
Is it normal to use up ram just by surfing the net?
I have 256mb of pc133 ram........when i use 3dmark2000 ,&check my system it says (at first when i first boot up my comp),that i have 256 total physical mem,180 free phys mem.
After about 20min of surfing the net when i go back to 3dmark it says i only have 124......after about 2hours on the net it goes down to 64............??????????????
I dont have any programe running in the background.....
My system specs are...p3 800e flip o/c to 1066 at 1.95 volts,256mb pc133ram(infinieon)

O ya sorry,when i said 124....64 ram etc,i ment total free phys ram..........the 256 stays the same

I suppose you're running Win9x - right ?
Well, it's a known memory "guzzler" - compliments of Mcsoft...
Your problem is your O/S, not surfing the web. The only cure is to restart your PC from time to time...

check out cacheman new ver 4 just came out great free program i use it.seems like the pages load faster when surfing the web and it tweaks and frees up your memory automaticaly i've been using it no problems i set it for games.

Bajo is right, almost. It is definitely Win9x... But there are fixes. Goto http://www.analogx.com . There is a program there called MaxMem. It runs in the background and periodically flushes unused memory to the hard disk. Works. You can set the settings to keep a certain percentage of free physical memory free. And from the same site, you can get cacheman. But Win2K works better for memory management. Works like MS should have had it working. (Putting Win2K on my laptop was kind of like getting an entirely new laptop!)
