WOW, I think I'd be shot if I suggested doing this to a board at work. I'm amazed.

Red face You guys have to do a lot to prevent condensation!

I think if you took the mobo and submerged it in oil, and left the top of the pot above the water, it could be a way to keep the condensation of the mobo without going through all that. There's no way you can get condensation in oil, and the rest of the puter components would also be cooled by the oil that was cooled by the dry ice. You wouldn't have to do anything except plop the mobo down in the oil, you wouldn't even need the foam gasket. Oil doesn't freeze either, I think it would work awesome! I dunno, maybe the oil would do like diesel fuel and turn to jelly, but I don't think that would hurt anything. You can even submerge a slow spinning fan and it would circulate the cooled oil over the rest of the puter parts. It's a good idea, and it could work really well. If you wanted to, you could insulate the sides of the pot from the oil so that the dry ice would last longer. Just some ideas, I don't have the resources to try them, so I hope somebody else will. :o

Got a cooler full of dice, stay tuned.

Seems my 3700+ is having cold bug issues. I have been tweeking for a few hours and can not get FSB to work over 279. RAM is clocking fine, dividers working, it's just HTT that has issues. It wouldn't be a problem if I had a 12x multi.

Going to keep trying different tweeks for another few hours and will post pics when I finish.

I used methanol for the liquid, worked quite well.

Put about half an inch in the bottom.

Cooler full of dice pellets.

I crushed the pellets for the first addition.

BIOS temps were around -40C

Pot temp

The highest temps got @ 1.7v+ was -66.6C, the unit holds load quite well I'd say.

The results were pretty sad because of the CPU's cold bug. This is all I could do, not even close to my single stage results. I'll test another CPU soon

For anyone trying this for the first time, remember to ventilate your room very well. I had a fan in my window and I still got dizzy a few times from breathing in c02 all day.

cO2 didnt know that would make you dizzy.

Nice to see the insulation worked so well Sory to hear about the cold bug. Maybe it's time to put BigMo's thirry to work, pretty sure he's the one that said MAL needed to be higher to to squash the cold bug. It's in the DFI RDX thread some were that he reaffermed the cure, so check me I could be nuts

I tried MAL =6-10 and drive strength 1-8 with no change. Those are the two settings that help with cold bug the most I think.

Sometimes cold bug just affects RAM so you need a divider and high MAL, in my case it was HTT.

OK thanks for clearing that up. It was made to sound as if it was "THE" cure.

Well your set up is looking mighty good to me donk. Get you a good CPU with no cold bug and I'm betting to see some records for you You've came a long way in a short time

Thanks Blue, maybe I will get an Opti 150 for the 12x in case it has the same type of cold bug.
