Re: Who is using a fan controller?

Maybe i'll installer a temp. sensor within my water cooling system, with a little display. Already have one in mind. But first i'll try to find some real amalog temp. gauge, kinda steampunk design.

Greetings

Dru

(After i installed the cooling and silencing box for two SATA drives, watercooled, so i can replace the pump, from vertical at the bottom to horizontal in the last 3.5" bay, so the front case fan drives more air through the case, to the new NesteQ psu, with modular extenable cable managment, and because of losing some tube, the one that connected two former 2 SATA housing, it' will be easier to install the hd3850 cooler.)

Hey Drufuss! I'm curious .... When building a watercooled system ... do you set up your computer on air cooling first to make sure it all works first before you install and connect the tubing and all the other water cooling parts? I would imagine it to be quite a bummer if your video card is defective after you install a graphics cooler, etc.

Re: Who is using a fan controller?

The poll has no software based choice so I did not vote. I use speedfan and have for years. It takes some work to get it setup correctly but once it is its set it and forget it.

I'll find out this weekend. I really need something to quiet down the fans when I'm not gaming. It looks like a pretty strieght forward install. I'll let you know how it works out...........................

I finally got that bugger installed. Boy those LEDs are bright! But it's no big deal as the LED's I installed in my case are bright too ( Blue for power and Red for HDD ). The unit works as advertised. I use the control for the two front fans and the two rear fans. I didn't use it on the CPU or GPU as the Zalmans or pretty quiet anyway. I manage to keep the RPM monitoring by modding the Fan RPM lines...................

Kind of yes.

When i swapped graphic cards in my old rig i did use it's stock cooler for some time (to get everything running and tested, and to wait for the right water-cooling block to be available) putting it on water later.
When i swapped the mainboard and the cpu last time i started directly with watercooling the cpu and the chipset (kinda bold approach, but it did work out ok). My new HD3850 card is running on air for quite some time now, so are the new Sata hdds. Both (gfx card and hdds) will be equipped with wateroolers very soon (maybe this evening).

Greetings

Dru

Re: Who is using a fan controller?

This Watercool HDD SILENTstar enclosure.
It keeps the hdds cool (not that they ever became to hot without it) and silent.

The psu-fan and one big fan on the front side of the case provide enough air flow to keep the ram cool enough. I don't watercool the ram because the additional tuging won't fit into the case anymore (maybe next rig will have a bigger case and everything watercooled, so i can say "everything watercooled, no fans")

Greetings

Dru

Re: Who is using a fan controller?

I have a couple of these:

Lian Li Rheobus Fan Controller 5.25" - Black [LL-RHK-BA] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

One is in my main rig and the other is in my P3 system. I can't remember how I have it set up on my P3 system. My main system is set up as follows. One knob for each 120mm fan on the radiator. One knob for the 2 80s above the PS and the other controls the 2 80s below the PS. I use the bult in case switch for the 2 80s up front and it is usually set on medium. All my fans are Panaflo except for the PS fan.
