| AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 MARK OSBORNE at Fabtech listened to a conference call from semiconductor kit supplier ASML and infers from it that AMD may not be able to start building 45 nanometre chips until 2009. He bases that on comments from an ASML exec who said that it's likely NAND will be the first to move to the 45 nano geometry. Then follows DRAM, and ASML thinks that logic will be 12 to 18 months behind - meaning, he speculates, that AMD would be well behind Intel. AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 - The INQUIRER |

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 AMD reacted to this and said they are still on track to release the first 45nm CPU's mid 2008.

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 Right, but you aren't 100% sure anymore that they won't be ready mid 2008.

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 When AMD's concerned I'm sure of nothing these days. I just mean that a denial from AMD would come even if their factory was on fire and the world had suddenly collectively forgotten how to build semiconductors.

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 I think AMD needs to get even with the die shrinks with Intel to stay competitve. Hopefully they can do it but they will need some High-K gate partions like Intel to go lower I believe. Also they need to start splicing cores like Intel to save time and money especially if they don't have virtual core tech like Intel to make a quad an octo core CPU. |

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 AMD repeated again that they are on track for 45nm. (the source could be the same so that it's not repeating) He is talking about the first half of 2008 (not mid 2008) And the 2.5Ghz Barcelona is for within a month. Many products will be released within a month from now. from: AMD Third Quarter Earnings Call - Earnings calls

| Re: AMD may hit 45 nanometres in 2009 I sincerely hope so. They need to be on 45nm before Nehalem drops. Otherwise it'll be tough.
