AMD to support DDR2 in 2006

"Advanced Micro Devices recently confirmed its commitment to DDR2 memory, whereas some web-sites revealed particular plans for the technology. Apparently, the first processors from with AMD with DDR2 support will be out next year and will be designed to fit into new Socket M2."

Actually no U-turn. AMD has always said it would support DDR2 "when it made sense."

It's always been assumed that AMD would support DDR3 or XDR. There were rumors it would skip DDR2 altogether. But AMD never said publicly it would do that.

I believe the rumors started with this story.
