ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 reviews

AMD's R680 Dual GPU has arrived...has ATI taken the high end performance crown back from Nvidia?...here are some reviews...

[H] Enthusiast - AMD's ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

PC Perspective - Asus AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2 - AMD R680 Dual GPU Arrives

AnandTech: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2: 2 GPUs 1 Card, A Return to the High End

"The Radeon HD 3870 X2 is the most elegant single-card, multi-GPU design we've seen to date and the performance is indeed higher than any single-card NVIDIA solution out today"

Not too shabby! And I guess with driver improvements over the next couple of years they will get even better!

yeah ATI really did a nice job with this card...the $449 price tag makes it even more tempting...I'm surprised at how relatively cool and 'silent' this card runs for having 2 GPU's...for those with high def displays this is one area where ATI is far ahead of anything Nvidia has to offer

but you're right zap in that driver support will be crucial to determining the long term success of this card...that's one of the many reasons why I was always hesitant to buy any SLI/Crossfire cards as driver support always seems to be lacking

isn't Nvidia's dual GPU card coming out next month?...I hear their GPU's will be on separate PCB's...lets see if that makes any difference, performance wise...hopefully ATI's semi victory will not be short lived...anybody know if Nvidia will be releasing a high end single GPU card next month or only a dual GPU?

Yep, just think, in a couple more years the card might even reach its potential.
