| The FBI Wants Your Fingerprint and Iris and Face and ... Biometrics is already something of a buzz word, with more and more of its applications in places like train stations, airports and even Walt Disney World. Governmental agencies borrowed the word as of late for more interesting projects: identifying people based on intrinsic physical or behavioral traits. The FBI in particular is no exception, the agency plans to award a 10-year contract with a one billion dollar tab to expand the quantity and quality of its biometric data. ![]() Has anyone here come to the realization of our legal system? It allows businesses to pollute our lands, sell toxic toys, and brainwash everyone into believing fluoride is actually good for you. While at the same time, they're arresting children for EATING at train stations in Washington D.C., arresting children for throwing fits at school, arrested a 61 year old cancer and bed ridden woman for letting her front hedges grow above 2 feet, tasering people during speeding violation stops, and the list goes on and on. I can go on with this for hours, but in the end, our privacy rights are no more. Just wait until January 2008 when Congress passes S. 1959 "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007", or labeled as "EndGame" by the DHS... Citizens call it the "Thought Crime Prevention Bill." You think fingerprints, iris and face recognition is a step too far? If the above bill is passed, all you need to do is protest our War of Terror, and they'll lock you up forever, torture you at will, and will NOT hold any obligation to produce any EVIDENCE against you at all. You'll simply disappear forever! Most likely you'll end up at the concentration camp in Alaska. Oh Crap... My mistake... You'll end up at the FEMA camp! People, you're living in a fantasy world if you still believe America is the land of the free! Please don't bash me too hard... I am furious about the issues surrounding our legal system, law enforcement, and governmental agencies. Not to mention our idiotic law makers!

I totally sympathise with your post Spawn. This particular item, tasering, is also starting to happen here. They say that there have been so few deaths that its worth using tasers pre-emptively to protect the lives of the men and women in the police force from violence. But why do they assume a person simply pulled over for speeding would be violent? Its just a civil offence! Essentially they are gambling serious injury or death to the driver against the low risk that he is going to lunge at them as soon as he steps out of the vehicle. This is madness and is a total abuse of the power the government has over the individual and if no one says anything then it will become accepted and then they will want to go another step. Each little step in the wrong direction like this is leading us to facism, I kid u not, it has happened before in history. In the case of tasers, I say sure - give them to our police forces, they will save deaths by gunshot. But they should be treated like guns, ie: strict control/training over how they are used and certainly not ever fired as a "pre-caution" - how dare they? As for the other points you raised, they are all important although I like to separate the stupid blunders of individuals or organisations from the bad policy decisions of government. The former is just little people making one-off mistakes and will always happen, the latter is big government making decisions which affect the lives of all of us. For all you who think this is a non-issue; good luck the next time you are pulled over for suspected speeding in some bad neighborhod where the local cops will want to shoot first with their "safe" tasers before asking questions ![]() [edit] Forget to mention; apparently tasering is even more painful than heart attack and anyone who has been tasered will do anything never to go through it again. Could double as an interesting interrogation tool...

The technology already exists to track everyone with an implant, and this mess with the FBI and the new antiterror bill, is a step down that road. Once we go down this road, there won't be any turning back, and then once they have you microchipped, you won't be able to go any place, and buy or sell without that microchip. Heck, the UK and Japan, already do this kind of stuff, and have been for years, all in the name of security, except for the microchipping. What's going on right now, is the government's national ID system, which along with the new passport requirements is scheduled to go in to effect in 2008 or 2009. Yes, the idiots in Washington passed a National ID system, all in the name of security, and that isn't going to do nothing to prevent terrorism. You, and most people here may not be the religous type, and I'm not much for religion, after seeing some of the garbage I have, including drunks coming in to church on Sunday, and taking communion after a Saturday night of sitting in the bar and getting drunk, but this will whether you realize it or not, lead us in to dangerous territory called The Mark Of The Beast and we won't be able to turn back from it, no matter how much we try. It doesn't do no good to complain to any Senators or Represenatives, it falls on deaf ears, as their the idiots that passed it.

They tried to implement a "National ID card" system here a few years ago and the people rejected it strongly in a referendum. But since then the mood seems to have changed and people are more accepting of technology and monitoring. It seems the new generation just dont get it.

The other thing about the National ID System the United States passed, is that it too like the new Passports/Passport cards will have an RFID chip in it, and contrary to what the government claims is not secure, and can be easily read by anyone with an RFID reader, whether that person be legit, like a hospital or a criminal, and has absolutely no technology in it to protect your personal information. The other step down this road, which is already being worked on, between the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the name of security, economics(trade), and so on is The North American Union, fashioned after the European Union, what this amounts to, is the United States, will lose more soverignty and rights as a nation, will have to let every friggin illegal alien be in the country, and fund a super highway from Mexico, all the way to Canada. What this amounts to, just like every nation in the European Union, is that the United States, Canada, and Mexico will have to answer to a centralized government, which is about to be ratified, if it hasn't already at a meeting in Europe within the next few weeks. The U.S. is already getting screwed thanks to William Jefferson Clinton, signing in to law, NAFTA. There isn't a day that goes buy thanks to that jerk of a President, that the United States, isn't getting fined by the World Trade Organization, and losing rights and being forced to drop things such as farm subsidies. Case and Point the United States, was recently forced by the WTO, to allow online gambling and money transfers to online gambling sites located outside the United States.

| Well, I'm glad to see some people FINALLY voicing their opinion publicly about this garbage. It sure took long enough to get people's attention, it may have gone too far to reverse. The country is being sold off piece by piece to the highest bidders. The politicians are the ones benifiting while we suffer. All our economy is getting hosed by regulations, taxes, and our industry moving out. Heck, can you blame them?? Cheap labor, lower taxes, less government control, and NOTHING to stop them! Law enforcement is going crazy, they get more ways to nose into your business every day! Now they are creating laws to make sure nothing CAN be done when they decide we no longer have ANY rights. What's so bad is the people that still SWALLOW it's all so that they can keep us safe! Freedom HAS BEEN an ILLUSION for a long time. They're developing lie detectors that analyze brain function IN REAL TIME using FMRI! Thought crimes won't bee too far off after they allow that to be admissable in court. They won't bother with a trial, they'll stick you in an MRI COURT ORDERED of course. They can allready use existing security cameras to recognise you. They just apply the same techniques used in facial recognition software to the rest of you. Allthough now it needs to be the same clothing, but they're coming up with ways to identify you just by height, body shape, size, and the way you move/things you do (called intrinsic physical or behavioral traits). It's more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea of how it works. With security cameras popping up everywhere connected by the internet, satellites, cell phones, they DON'T need a tatoo, or an RFID chip. Between that and your finger prints, you'll be identified. The more I see and learn, the more I think the mark of the beast pertains to digital data. Privacy, freedom, "the American way", all GONE! You have the right to remain silent, but we'll scan your brain anyways! You guys wonder why I'm so paranoid |
