| Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. MAINGEAR Computers, the premier provider of high performance, luxury custom computers started offering new EPHEX Skulltrail gaming computers targeted towards gamers looking for the ultimate in performance, style, and service. This is a truly unique system. It is based on Skulltrail platform with two quad-core processors and features four GPUs. The system is built on Intel D5400XS mainboard and features Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors working at 3.2GHz, that can be overclocked to 4GHz upon the customer’s request. Also the system is equipped with 4GB FB-DIMM Memory (4x1GB) working at 800MHz frequency. The graphics subsystem of EPHEX Skulltrail may be built using different graphics accelerators. Among other options you can find two dual-chip ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 or two single-chip Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra cards. We would like to remind you that this flexibility is possible due to compatibility of Intel D5400XS mainboard with Crossfire as well as SLI technologies. | Re: Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. I wish I could tell my past self that there's a lot of money in building boutique gaming pc's, despite the fact that all components are off the shelf and can be had at the relatively lowest price to the consumer. |

| Re: Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. And by the time anyone designs a game that needs such power it will be hopelessly out of date. Still I can't help drooling a little at those specs.

| Re: Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. 800mhz is standard and is pretty stable compared to 1066mhz plus.

| Re: Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. hey, i know why they choose that, like you say... BUT.... isn't the whole point of this "uber" system to be the be-all end-all of current systems ? so shouldn't it use ddr3 in the 1st place ? followed by 8gb ram not 4gb. and then using faster ram ?? (corsair has ddr-3 @1800mhz or ddr-2 @ 1250mhz) i was being somewhat sarcastic, eh ?!?! |

| Re: Gaming Desktop from MAINGEAR for $9,000. It's held back by FB-DIMM. If FB-DIMMs were any faster, they'd have used it.
