Intel 45nm Fabs Continue To Be Delayed

... How does that impact you? Well, it explains why cheaper Nehalems won't show up until well into 2009. We should also expect more mini-delays and longer part shortages/higher prices from Intel for quite some time to come, particularly for new products, for the rest of this year and well into next, and lack of fab capacity is going to be the major reason for it.

Re: Intel 45nm Fabs Continue To Be Delayed

Well, I hope Intel puts most of it 45nm capacity into Penryn based cores for now to keep prices down.

It's a bit of a break for AMD, with High-K going into their 45nm product they could be a little more competitive at the beginning of 2009.

Re: Intel 45nm Fabs Continue To Be Delayed

Intels tick-tock scheme works great when they are behind but it is hurting them now. I've heard nothing but how well the 45nm process went for Intel this time last year and they had parts out 8mos ago. If they needed cash they would be pumping out a lot more 45nm parts (IMO).
