Internet Explorer 8 (final) released

Hailing it as easier to use, faster and more secure, Microsoft has released their Internet Explorer 8 web browser to the public today. The new browser also incorporates new features such as accelerators, visual search, and web slices. It is recommended that you uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta/RC before installing IE8 final...

IE8 is tons better then IE7 but it's still behind Firefox, Chrome etc in overall productivity...MS deserves credit for IE8 though

here's a nice review of IE8 with a detailed rundown of all the new features...

Review: Internet Explorer 8 is new and improved -- is it back on top?

I like Chrome a lot...but the only issue I have with it is the fact that there is no drop down list on the Address/Location bar anymore...I'm so used to that and it is strange for me to use a browser without one...I wish they would put one in and I would use Chrome as my main browser

Safari also suffers from this same issue...Chrome is lightning fast and has a lot of nice features but I can't use it without that...I know Chrome has that thumbnail history page where you can select previously visited sites but it doesn't feel the same to me

Re: Internet Explorer 8 (final) released

I used it for about 2 weeks when I was on XP, and now back with IE 7. It's a nice browser, but it broke too many sites (e.g., Gamespot/IGN/Direct2Drive -- even in compatibility mode).

Then WindowBlinds and SkinStudio can't skin it.

So I'll wait a little longer to see if they can fix the site breaks some more.

Re: Internet Explorer 8 (final) released

Been using it for a couple of days now on XPPro. Have about a dozen sites I frequent that I had to setup for "compatibility view" due to issues.

It's a bit speedier I think, and I appreciate the cookie and page handling that "Preserve Favorites Website Data" provides.

It'll be improved in the future so it's a keeper for me!
