| Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days AnandTech: Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days I must have missed this one. This sounds pretty darn exciting and would change the way people buy their video cards. [EDIT] Mmindx2; this is such an interesting topic! thank you for posting it... I've decided to put it up on the front page... zapionics<alt> here's some further information: Quote:

| Re: Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days Exciting stuff! I'm glad they finally implemented this kind of technology into a mainstream mobo. Ive always dreamed about taking those dusty 'ol Nvidia 5200's and firing them up along side a big daddy. I will def. check this out in the coming weeks.

| Re: Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days Nvidia and ATI must just HATE this!!! Use older graphics cards to your hearts content.....of ANY manufacture----what a concept..... There will be a lot of manuevering going on with mobo maunufacturers and the big boy graphics card makers----if this works as claimed....

| what would really impress me is if you had the ability to mix and match different cards from different GPU manufacturer's...meaning mixing ATI and Nvidia together...now that would be awesome indeed...when I saw the first post in this thread I actually thought that was the case with this Lucid Hydra chip

| I skimmed through the article the first time...apparently they did indeed state that 'eventually' you will be able to mix ATI + Nvidia but not initially...so that is pretty cool

| Re: Lucid Hydra 200: Vendor Agnostic Multi-GPU, Available in 30 Days I dont know if its all as rosy as it seems... for instance I have a concern about power management as an SLI or crossfire solution usually includes power management of the second card at idle (ie: reduced clocks)... whereas this solution might not be able to implement that? Pretty exciting concept tho...
