| Microsoft delays SQL Server 2008 MICROSOFT has followed up its policy of delaying key products this time with Windows SQL Server. The Vole promised man plus dog that SQL Server 2008 would be out in the second quarter of this year. Now it seems that it thinks SQL 2008 is still half-baked and will not be cooked until the third quarter. In a Volish Bog, Microsoft tried to put the best spin on the situation claiming that over the coming months, customers and partners can look forward to significant “product milestones” for SQL Server. All very well but product milestones are not the real thing. Microsoft delays SQL Server 2008 - The INQUIRER |

| Re: Microsoft delays SQL Server 2008 I've always wondered about the origin of the term "The Vole", what it means and why it's applied to Microsoft. Turns out it means "any of various small mouselike rodents of the family Cricetidae (especially of genus Microtus) having a stout short-tailed body and inconspicuous ears and inhabiting fields or meadows" and was originally applied to Microsoft by The Inquirer some years ago. I have a Screech Owl that lives in my backyard. My yard has been conspicuously free of voles since his arrival.
