New Intel roadmap suggests 3 SKUs for Nehalem launch

Up to this point, it's been assumed that Intel's upcoming next-gen Nehalem processor would be geared exclusively towards the high-end crowd at launch under Intel's "Extreme" brand. However, a new roadmap has appeared on expreview.com suggesting otherwise.

Based on the latest roadmap, Intel intends to offer 3 Nehalem SKUs at launch, a 3.2GHz Extreme Edition part, and a 2.93GHz CPU for the high-end performance segment. For the mainstream sector, a 2.66GHz SKU will also be available.

All 3 processors are slated to launch in Q4'08, and will serve as Intel's only Nehalem parts until faster CPUs debut sometime in the second quarter of 2009. The roadmap also lists new dual and quad-core Core 2 CPUs slated to launch later this year...

Big ? mark is whether the two 'lesser' CPUs will be clock locked or not.
