| R700 has taped out A FEW WEEKS ago, a bunch of people suggested that the ATI R700 would be delayed because it won't appear on official platforms until much later. This was the worst case of roadmap misreading I have seen in a long time, made so much more laughable by the fact that it had already taped out. Yeah, R700 is in the process of being fabbed now, or at least its components are. The component thing is a story for another day, the part that matters is that R700 bits are in the oven now and things appear to be going swimmingly, or at least skatingly if you know what Toronto is like in the winter. | Re: R700 has taped out Lol! Guess AMD is holding it's cards (pun intended) close to it's vest for a reason! |

| Re: R700 has taped out This will probably be in 55nm and later updated to 45nm. (like the 2900 to 38xx 55nm update)

| Re: R700 has taped out I was just thinking that the speed of one R700 chip will probably give us a good idea about what the GPU speed will be in a GPU/CPU fusion setup. The amount of transistors would be about half of the R600 GPU. So I assume: Low end cards will have one R700 core, mid range cards will have two of them, high end cards 3 or 4. one other remark: does anyone know if the UVD logic will be on a separate chip on the card? since it's a bit pointless to put 2 or more UVD chips on one graphics card.

| Re: R700 has taped out I don't think we know enough details about the R700 to make any informed speculation yet...unless you've dug up more info in another link. |
