Windows 7 Family Pack Upgrade

If you are like me and have a BUNCH of computers that you'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 starting the 22nd. Then the Windows 7 Family Pack Upgrade may be the cheapest and easiest way to go if at least three of your machines are either Windows XP Home Edition or Windows Vista Home Premium Machines. The pack includes three licenses and will do either 32 or 64 bit machinces----and the BEST part is the price!! I found online advertisements for the pack at $131 dollars no tax, shipping/handling included and both of my local Office Max and Office Depots have it for $150 (but you will pay tax). The Pack is available on the 22nd and from personal experience with TWO separate In-Place Upgrades from Vista (one high end desktop and one Tablet PC) the upgrade in place option is fast and painless. The boys in Redmond got it right this time! XP users must do a clean install----but at $44 a computer----for a completely licensed new OS----it sure makes the cost of jumping to Windows 7 palatable!

Re: Windows 7 Family Pack Upgrade

Thanks for the heads up John. And yes, you're right. It's about time they offered a reasonably priced option for consumers with multiple PCs.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack - 3 PC in one household
I do not know the merchant that has it for $131. But, I know B&H. They are a reputable retailer.

Re: Windows 7 Family Pack Upgrade

I just ordered a Pack from Costco----even with the surcharge for not being a Costco member and the tax....

It still came to less than the Eggs price----or my local OfficeMax with Tax.....

About $48 per machine....for 3 machines.....

I can live with that.....

even better than the old "buy an OEM license only" days when you could get an XP license only for $50

$50 seems very reasonable to me.

Whereas paying over $100---when going from Vista SP2----to Win 7

Seems outlandish---especially if you have used Vista SP2 for any length of time....

I didn't think you could upgrade using any of the early beta and RC's to the release retail version, well looks like you can...good deal!
