| XP SP3 crashes AMD machines THE LONG-AWAITED and much-delayed update to Windows XP, Service Pack 3, is giving owners of machines with AMD hardware headaches aplenty it seems. The problems, which first arose just one day after the push, have been causing lots of noise on Microsoft support sites and angry user bogs. One user reported, "I just installed Windows XP SP3 and after completing the processes and when the system reboots, the system cannot proceed to load the Windows. It just displays the flash screen of Windows then after it reboots again." XP SP3 crashes AMD machines - The INQUIRER

| Re: XP SP3 crashes AMD machines I've got 2 939 socket AMD's and no problems with SP3 so far. No better, no worse. To me the advantage of having a SP3 is when it is time to reinstall, otherwise not much difference to me.

| Re: XP SP3 crashes AMD machines Yet another reason to not purchase an AMD processor, they are buggy. They have had a lot of patches through out the years to make them run properly. Mostly the patches were to disable functions in the operating system so the processor won't use them, in return you get a slower CPU but get stability. Even though that is not the case this time, it just shows that manufactures are defiantly putting AMD on the bottom of the list for beta testing stability. | Re: XP SP3 crashes AMD machines Well one problem is only with HP machines because they installed intel drivers on AMD machines (via an image) So that has nothing to do with the hardware. Everyone (except HP) knowns you get trouble if you install the wrong drivers on your hardware. The other problem is specific for a certain motherboard/bios Again nothing to do with AMD.
