No thank you! I pretty much just use XP for testing and for games (and that has become infrequent).

I may eventually have to for DX10, but I've had enough just testing Vista for now.

It would be nice if game developers supported linux more

at least 28 out of the 31 people who selected "I’m not interested at this time" will be running Vista next year at this time...

Already on an Apple as well. 5 licenses of OS X costs $199 and yet Window 'Ultimate' cost as much as what many people will pay for their whole computer. I paid $400 for my Apple with OS X and iLife.

I've used Mac OSX a fair bit and like it. I'd like to pick up a MacBook - great for occupying myself when the misses is watching something on TLC

I'm going to download Vista when the Virtual Machine Trial is out, but I wouldn't even think buying it till after SP1. The only thing that would push me sooner, is if I have to learn it for work.

I have far too much money invested in audio/video editing and hardware for me to consider moving to Mac, but I won't be moving my workstation to Vista until I'm dragged over to it by utter necessity.
That being said, I'm seriously considering Corel WordPerfect X3 when the time comes to "upgrade" my office suite.

My game machine will have to go Vista at some point, but that whole audio thing really has me feeling burned even before I install it.
I've never been a reflexive Microsoft hater but Vista is turning me into one.

Home Premium OEM for me. I am buying that and a 2nd (VX922) monitor for a dual setup on the 1st. I currently have a VX924 but it looks the same on the outside as the 922.

Lets face it; we are ALL going to install Vista eventually... and like it... otherwise we will be left behind with deprecated unsupported and out of date Xp.

Question - How do scientists know that Space is infinite?
-----------------
We do not know for a fact that space is infinite. Light is what we use to explore distant space, the light from stars. We know how fast light travels, so if we know how far away a star is, we know how long ago the star put out the light. From motion of the Earth, looking at a star at different times of the year, we know how far away the most distant galaxies we have ever seen are located. These are stars just coming into being, very young stars. This causes scientists to believe we there are not many stars beyond.
Still, there could be. It is possible that a very distant set of galaxies exists on it own, too far away for its light to have reached us yet. We do not know for sure.
Until there is something to indicate its existence, scientists will try to explain
things without it. Scientists prefer to use the simplest models possible that still agree with reality.

In other words, that hole money has burned in your pocket for Vista may not lead to an altnernate universe after all.

Well, yes... eventually but it depends on the application(s). Many professional audio and video software/hardware makers take years to support a new Microsoft OS. I remember when I prematurely upgraded my workstation from Win2K to XP and none of my programs worked reliably and my soundcard didn't work at all. I fretted for three days and finally reinstalled Win2K and didn't "upgrade" to XP for another year.

My game machine's a different matter. Now that Creative has had good success with getting older games to run with its ALchemy (AL for OpenAL) wrapper I'll install Vista on my game machine as soon as I see the first DirectX 10 game that appeals to me. Likely, that'll be Hellgate: London, not Crysis.
When the time comes I'll probably choose Vista Business. All the truncated consumer media goop that ships with Ultimate is of no use to me.
I already have full power apps for audio and video, plus I will never allow a computer to run my home theater, so it looks like Vista Business is the way for me to go.
Heck, it might even be the "Win2K" of the Vista choices, the leanest and meanest of the Vista line.

No no, thats just that soylent red you've been eating, switch to the green stuff. Listen; the problem is that once Xp is no longer supported there will be no patches for "vulnerabilities" and the vendors will stop updating drivers for it and new software wont run on it and eventually, with green tears in your eyes, you will finally admit you must upgrade like everyone else.

sensible approach there TQ, exactly what I will do, except it will be Crysis driving it (although I probably will wait until the video drivers are stable and the framerates decent).

There's a ton of interest in that game. Justifiably so, from the game play movies I've seen.

By the way, for you gamers here's the link to the ALchemy homepage. You may want to consider reading up on it if you want hardware accelerated audio in your older games while running Vista.

http://preview.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx

It's a interesting read.
