Edit: nevermind, it seems the disk was bad. Just flashed again with another disk and it worked...

Hmmm, one of my hard drives keeps showing up as a removable in the taskbar. Anyone else with this problem? It's a storage drive. My Raptors on the SI controller are running fine...

This is a by-product of installing the nforce IDE drivers. On previous versions of the nforce chipset, I just used the MS drivers - even w/ SATA. The nf4 chipset, however, works much better w/ nvidia's drivers. Be sure to use the nforce4 specific drivers from nvidia's site.

So how do I fix it? Un-install the ide drivers? If so how? Also how do you what version your chipset drivers are? Just curious for future reference. Thanks.

Since the nf4 IDE performance is better w/ the drivers, I just live with it. There may be a way to keep the icon from showing up on the taskbar without removing the IDE drivers, and without compromising hard drive performance, but I'm not aware of it. nVidia combines different version numbers of the assorted component comprising its chipset into an overall chipset driver version and the overall version can be found by going to %systemdrive%\nvidia\nforceWin2KXP (unless you changed the default during setup) and seeing what the name of the next directory is. For example, mine says 6.39, which is the latest version - labeled nforce4 specific on nvidia's site. %systemdrive% being the drive on which XP is installed. To remove a component, go to add/remove programs, find the listing for nvidia drivers and follow the prompts to remove the specific component driver.

Edit for coherency.

Yeah, I just unintalled it. I knew how to do it, I just didn't know where to look until I click "nVidia Drivers" and saw that they have check boxes to choose which to uninstall. I was looking for something named ntune, or nvidia ide. Thanks for the other info.

Hmmm, I was just looking at my nvidia driver settings, and under "sli rendering mode" When SLI is enabled, use: it was default set at "Single-GPU rendering." Should I set it to "Multi-GPU rendering?" What is the difference?

I leave the global driver setting to single and so far just use the profiles nvidia has setup for multi.

Everytime I reboot and windows starts I get a "SLI has been enabled" message. Saying "You may notice one of your displays go blank. This will happen only while SLI multi-GPU is enabled." I started getting this message after I tried the computer out in single card mode disabling SLI, and then re-enabling it. Any ideas how to stop the message?

I think there is an option in the BIOS to disable this feature as well. Look in the BIOS for it.

You are not taking advantage of SLI set up unless you enable Multi Rendering option. You have two GPUs, so why let just one do the work? Make both of them work equally.

I seem to be getting random crashes. Just had one when I was scrolling down a webpage, then suddenly I got a beep! and everything froze, until I restarted manually with the power button....

Hmmm, seems I have the rev 1.01 board. I hope it's not factoring in to all the problems I've been having.

Edit: oops nevermind, I was reading the 1.01 off the dual/single card switcher underneath between the two videocards...

Are you sure yours is rev. 1.01? I thought the retail version that Asus ship to all retailers are 1.02 and nothing earlier as the earlier rev. was a test or beta one. You should return yours if it is indeed rev. 1.01.
